This two little piggies came to Thistle for nursing, Zest is a 6 week old baby and Jingle is somewhere around 6/7 months old.Zest has multiple problems weighing only 6 ounces (around half the weight she should be) has fungal on her face and front paw, is blind, has demineralised/crumbly teeth and a 'clicky' nose. Despite this she has a zest for life. Jingle has fungal ears but is otherwise in pretty good condition, although a bit on the light side. Both piggies are being fed extra with Zest getting many syringe feeds in the day as well as extra veg, unlimited mix and hay. Both girls have settled really well and like nothing better than exploring everthing around them

This year priority will be given to emergencies, neglected/sick, old and special needs piggies or piggies in need of nursing.

A few do's and dont's for rehoming:

Never advertise your piggy free to a good home, he may end up as Buzzard/snake food.

Satisfy yourself that the new owners will look after the piggies at least to your own standards.

Do not rehome to live in small cages or on sawdust or outside particularly in the Autumn through to late Spring times.

Do ask questions and ensure that potential owners know about a piggies needs.

Do make sure that potential owners are fully aware of costs including Veternary Care, that they will in fact be willing to take piggy to the vet, age that piggies can live to. Also that they are aware that Children can get bored very quickly with new pets and that they want them for themselves as much as for the Children.

Do contact your local SSPCA.
